But, their special gifts that they have secretly planned for the other one coincide and create problems for each other. Reading online about this season of Regular Show, the consensus appears to be that the show has gotten stale and that all the episodes are essentially the same in terms of their structure. This is the basic formula of the show, and to suggest that no other shows have formulae they stick to is daft. The difference with such shows working or not, is that they need to deliver on this formulae while also having some form of forward motion, and keep things fresh and engaging enough so they do not feel stale. The fifth season of this show remains as solidly on formula as it has been before, but I do agree that this season has a certain feeling of being stale about it.

Regular Show

Most adults who know the Cartoon Network know that it has some very hidden gems that don’t really have mainstream appeal. Animation lovers know the greatness of shows like Adventure Time and Steven Universe , and the surreal superiority of Regular Show. The show about slackers Mordecai a bluejay and Rigby a raccoon working for Benson a gumball machine at a park usually takes a surreal turn, and it will soon turnover.

This could have been the series finale. I’ll admit I don’t know what the perfect ending of Regular Show would be—perhaps Mordecai and Rigby.

Mordecai is getting ready for his date with CJ, while Rigby is pissed that Mordecai is bailing on him. Mordecai meets her outside, where they try to figure out where to go. Death shows up in a van from the netherworld, where he drops off Thomas, his son. Thomas rips on CJ for dating Mordecai, but Mordecai distracts him with a trip to the playground. Thomas throws a fit, and destroys the ice cream truck. Mordecai breaks, and says he will take him to the underworld playground.

Hardcore Regular Show fans are still impatiently waiting on a complete fourth season DVD and Blu-ray release — come on, the sixth season is airing on TV now! And based on the cover art, in which Mordecai the bluejay reaches his hands his high above his head and presumably yells “Oh! There’s one little hitch, though. The title of the Rigby Pack made perfect sense, as most of the selected episodes were all driven by Rigby and even often touched on the same theme: how Rigby’s stubbornness and laziness leads to disaster.

The Mordecai Pack is far less focused than its predecessor; in fact, only about half of the disc could really qualify as Mordecai-driven stories. On top of that, the disc shuffles the chronology of the episodes mostly taken from season 5, although there is one story from season 3 , three from season 4, and one from the new sixth season. This effectively fractures the story arc of Mordecai’s romantic life. But wait, I’ve gotten ahead of myself.
